How To Apply for Action Center Assignments:

Staff Qualifications

Jamboree staff positions are open to adult men and women who meet required qualifications. Adult staff members must have been born before July 26, 1984. Youth staff members must have been born between July 26, 1984 and July 26, 1994, and be registered members of the Boy Scouts of America. Jamboree staff applicants are submitted online directly to the national office. An electronic process has been developed for councils’ review, evaluation, and approval. The Web site is accessible through www.MyScouting.org for volunteers. BSA employees may access it through www.MyBSA.org.

Youth Staff Opportunities

Youth staff (under age 18) have the opportunity to serve in numerous job assignments at the jamboree. Youth staff will be needed in many of the jamboree groups and services listed on the staff application, such as jamboree band (Daily Ceremonies), Trading Posts, Brownsea Island, Action Centers, and Service Corps.

How To Apply

To submit an application for the 2010 National Scout Jamboree, go to www.MyScouting.org and log in. After logging in, go to “Event Reservations” and “Jamboree.” Then choose the Staff Application link. There is a $100 deposit due at the time of application payable by credit card.

Participant Statement of Understanding and Code of Conduct

The participant Statement of Understanding and Code of Conduct for the 2010 National Scout Jamboree will accompany applications for all Scouts and leaders. Youth and adult staff members will receive a copy of the staff. Statement of Understanding and Code of Conduct on their staff Letter of Appointment when they are selected to serve. In all instances, the signature by participants, parents or guardian, and staff on either the participant application or staff Letter of Appointment dictates agreement to abide by the Code of Conduct and Statement of Understanding.

Jamboree Staff Clearance Procedure

The procedure for handling staff recruitment is as follows:

The home council evaluates and approves applicant’s qualifications
The region reviews applicant and approves applicant’s qualifications
Approved staff applications are routed to directors for selection
When selected, the prospective staff member is offered a position

The electronic online application does not guarantee a staff position. Local councils determine who may participate at a National Scout Jamboree. There will be a nonrefundable processing fee. Once the application is fully approved, it will be offered to the staff directors in the order of the applicant five choices.

2010 National Scout Jamboree Staff Payment Schedule

Staff 26 years of age or older

$100 deposit due at time of application
$400 payment due on or before July 31, 2009
$295 final payment due on or before January 31, 2010

Staff 16-25 years of age
$100 deposit due at time of application
$200 payment due on or before July 31, 2009 (late penalties will apply)
$97.50 final payment due on or before January 31, 2010 (late penalties will apply)

• All Staff payments must be made online. Payments are processed through a secure site to which few have access.
• To make a Staff payment please log on to your MyScouting Account, navigate to Event Reservations >>> Jamboree >>> Staff EDIT application to edit an existing application. (This is the 4th link.)
• Enter your registration code including the dashes. This is the 20- number on your confirmation. This will access your application.
• Page through to the last page where you will have the opportunity to make a payment.
• Click on the "charge my credit card" radio button and the amount field will be editable. You may enter the amount you wish to pay. Submit payment.

Due to PCI Compliance laws, the Jamboree Department cannot submit your payment for you.
